Oil question

It's getting hot and I have been using Royal Purple 5w30, just wanted to know if you guys would recommend staying that way of bum it up to 10w30. I have 83k on the car

i use m1 10w-30 in the summer and m1 5w-30 in the winter.... not that it makes that much of a difference in the Dallas winter.

just stick to 5w-30 all year round, no need to swap to 10w-30 in the summer, because the final operating viscosity is the same

You're na and street drive. You could run 5W30 DINO oil and be fine. Synthetics feature great properties that combat high temps. I wouldn't worry about it.

Worry MORE about keeping the oil level up and consider getting a sample tested at Blackstone Labs. THAT would be a much better way to take care of your engine.

I agree with everyone. Stay at your 5w-30 grade. If you move to a warmer climate, then 10w-40 would be my recommendation.

5w30 it is thx. Also has anyone used the lucas oil additive? not the regular one the pure synthetic one?
