Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic $19.xx / 5 qt container at WalMart

Some type of roll back or over stock price. I grabbed 2 5qt containers. Someone else mentioned that they reduced their prices because they went to 4qts. Not true. It says 5qts on the container.

I went and got some for the wife's g and for my camaro. That's the lowest I've ever seen it and if you buy it by the 5 quart containers it's like $10 cheaper. They had a crap load of it too. I don't think they'll be running out anytime soon.

You should check out the oil analysis thread on my350z.com (in the same subforum as this). It turns out that M1 5w- or 10w is not that great of oil.

German Castrol FTW!!

There is nothing wrong with M1, its one of the better OTC synthetics out there. There isn't any remaining stock of german castrol so thats out. The only other competitor for the price is pennzoil platinum when it is on sale.

This, after you making the claim that M1 is not even a true synthetic oil anymore, in the traditionally accepted definition of, "synthetic oil".

Interesting.

Mobil 1 0W-40 is a good OTC oil, but as for the 5w- and 10w- oils:

Mobil 1 5W-30 and 10W-30- If you like Mobil1, then get the 0W-40. Otherwise don't waste your money on a premium oil with average to less than average results.
Amsoil ASL 5W-30- It's a decent oil, but it has consistantly shown high lead wear and the TSO 0W-30 has performed better with more mileage on it between oil changes. If you like Amsoil, then get the better performing TSO for the same money.
Royal Purple 5W-30- This is the worst performing oil to date, with high wear numbers and high shear. However, I only have been sent one UOA on this oil so it is not an average result.

As for no remaining stock of German Castrol, I just picked up 10 qts at my local Autozone. They had at least 15 more on the shelf, and the other AZ in my town has just as many left. I posted a thread asking if anybody wanted me to pick some up for them a couple of weeks ago.

Let me break it down:

1) It is true that Mobil 1 is not longer a group IV synthetic so

2) When did I ever say it wasn't good oil? So again

Interesting info. Schaeffer's is synthetic and damned expensive!

The 0-40 Mobil seems interesting as it seems to flow more like a 30 w. Also the Penzoil platnium seems good. It was about $20.xx for a 5 qt jug. I think that was the normal price.

I didn't notice if the 0w 40 was on sale though
