Has anyone ever gotten that code? It's a misfire of cylinder 2 [link].

Check your spark plug wire, check connections, Check your timing belt.

Reset and check for code again.

Oh yeah. Check injector.

Thanks Joker, I was just wondering if anyone else had the problem and what they did... I really don't want to tear into my car so I guess I should just take it to the dealer.. Should be covered, heh.

 

Do you get it all the time (Cold Start or while driving)? I get them only on Cold Start but I'm FI'ed.

 

if you can find a plug wire or a timing belt on the vq ill give you 100000000000000000000000000000000000000 dollars.

My CEL was on the other week for about a day but never got around to pulling the codes... But today I took it to autozone for a free code pullage and that came up... I didn't check cold start or driving, just whenever I made it to autozone :P

 

OK - this happens for a few reasons, other than code description:

First - you could have started the car badly - you know, let go of the key too soon and it didn't start, didn't have enough gas in the car, etc.

It is usually the above items - but also will be a fouled plug or possibly a coil.

Did the CEL go away, or stay, and were there multiple instances of the code, or just one? Where you driving spirited or just cruising when it happened?

I got this code too. My friend has a code reader and he was able to reset it for me. But it came back after 15 min of driving. I don't experience any of the symptoms: hard start, rough idle, etc. I will bring it to the dealer and have them check it out. Hopefully it's nothing major.

 

I get this one quite a bit. Usually the CEL will flash while the car is checking it out. If the misfire continues, the CEL will come on solid. A few minutes later, the CEL will blink as the ECU checks again. This continues while there is a malfunction. In my case, it is a result of the wiring harness for the EManage Ultimate. I have a connector that is making intermittent contact. When this happens, I wiggle the harness and it goes away. I have tried re-soldering the connector (cylinder 2 signal wire), but it is still happening from time to time. I will keep re-wiring stuff until it stops for good.

 

i also have the same problem on my '04 coupe, p0302 misfire on cylinder 2. plugs have been replaced not to long ago and still my check engine light comes on, so i switched the coils for #2 to #4 and it still reads a code p0302. I wanted to know is this problem is covered under manufactured warrenty.

 

We got a master mechanic on our hands. j/k

 

Did you accidentally switch the plugs like how i did before? Though you would get a misfire code for #2 and #4 if you did that. Make sure the plugs are plugged into the correct cylinder.
