T/S OR NO T/S?

i am debating whether to get the technosquare or not. currently i have a borla, crawford, grounding kit, and injen, plus it's a auto. is it worth it?

Re: T/S OR NO T/S?

I'm guessing no. The only reason I say that is because quite a few guys are running with the mods you have, and the stock ECU seems just fine. The TS will generally fine tune your fuel map and raise the RPM cutoff to 7200 or whatever. Personally, I would not bother with it, but others might differ with me.

Re: T/S OR NO T/S?

If you have open up the exhuast and intake...I would say YES.I just had mine on the dyno and the operator cut the first run off early .He said he was afraid it was to lean .We went ahead with a second run..this time I went WOT sooner to put it in open loop ...or close..always forget....so it would richen up faster...I have....Stillen cold air box...Z tube....Crawford plenum....BRM headers...RT cats...Stillen dual cat back .The charts showed that it was lean till I got up into the upper rpm range . All the threads I have read on this say that if your running the plenum and High flow cats , you will more than likely be running lean....So ....getting the flash is worth it and should add some hp ....I just did my dyno Wensday and sending my ECU off Monday.....good luck

Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

Re: T/S OR NO T/S?

I agree with Booger. I have always been a fan of upgrading the stock ECUs in my cars. Plus I find that Technosquares approach is the best so far since they will custom tune your ECU to your specific mods.

If this is your first mod, you'll probably notice the increase in power from stock since the car is setup a little rich from the factory. If you've been doing upgrades like Booger and myself, you probably won't notice anymore power since we're running lean with the exhaust and intake mods. Instead, it will make sure you can use your car at it's maximum potential SAFELY.

My last mod was the TS ECU upgrade, which proved at the dyno to not be much of a difference at all...in fact lost a bit of power (click on my name to see my other posts for the details), but that's subjective since it wasn't done on the dyno on the same day with stock vs TS ECU. Whenever you add more fuel, especially at the top end where you make your peak power, you most likely will lose a bit of power as a lean condition will show up with more power on a dyno.

I wouldn't count on this as an upgrade to rely on getting additional power, but instead to give you the safety you need to ensure you can go ahead and unleash your monster and never have to worry about it blowing up. Plus you get a few key benefits from it with never having to worry about resetting the ECU anymore, timing changes done especially at low rpms do make the car ride alot smoother and you have the rev limiter increased to 7100 to keep you in the peak power band longer which helps in 0-60 & 1/4 mile times.

The best thing to do is do your homework and get a dyno before & after to see the changes in power and A/F ratios and be prepared to send your ECU back more than once ( as I have to) to get it tuned just right. It is worth the upgrade IMHO.

Good luck!

Here's their website.... Have a look
http://www.technosquareinc.com/350z.htm

Also do a search for a member names 'Chebosto' back about a year--- there's tons of info there.

Re: T/S OR NO T/S?

Hey guys-
I'm sorry i havent been around. just been busy with my Z

as for the ECU is concerned, i would probably have it done later in your line of modifcation schedules.. the ECU will take advantage of intakes, plenums, cat/test pipes, headers, cam to their fullest extent.. the cat backs, pulleys, and grounding wires, not really... if the mod changes the breathing of the car, then that would be a candidate for a reflash.. TS has the programs for any variations of mods, and its not just A/F that is adjusting. its changing timing & timing switch over, throttle body control, raising the Rev limiter and a whole bunch of other things.

so if you have just an Intake and a plenum, that i would think would be worth the flash since the intake and plenum is forcing the stock program Leaner in the A/F ratio. and the car will try to compensate for that... you'll be gaining power generally, but not as much as it could get..

but if your list of mods is just a cat-back and intake, eh. save your money for something else later on.. every MAJOR mod once you have the ECU already in the car, will require a reflash. *i.e. if you go Supercharger or turbo or NOS*

feel free to contact me anytime if you have questions, or email technosquare directly... my contacts at Technosquare is Danny Lee. his email is Danny@atagan.com or just click on the links on their website..

hope that helps-

Cheston
