I had my motor replaced cause of oil consumption issues. Won't be an issue no more because it will be traded in soon..

I never thought someone would go with an 03-04 just because of having a slight chance of having oil problems with an 05-07. If anything, its going to be covered by warranty IF you encounter that problem.

That's a big trade of you are doing; I'd rather get an 06 because it has a MUCH better interior than the 03-04, I get bluetooth, projectors, imo cleaner tailights, etc etc.

Goodluck anyhow.

Only if your 1qt/1000mi or worse. Trust me I know.
But to stay objective, yeah there are a lot of rev-ups without this plague.
OP...Poll I linked was only ppl with issue and not ppl without issue included.

I have a revup and have yet to have oil consumption issues and I have a good amount of bolt-ons (keeping fingers crossed while knocking on wood).

Recently finished another OC test series. I qualified for a new engine from Japan. The ship can't get here fast enough for me.

I have an '06 w/ 40K and little consumption, drive it hard always.

I had an '05 - didn't use any oil, I don't remember the miles.

Both are 6mt sedans.

Excessive Oil Consumption......?

I don't have a problem with my '04 of any kind. This issue keeps popping up
with late '05 & '06s, and yet Nissan doesn't say what causes the comsumption
problem. My guess was poor quality rings, does anyone know for sure what
what is causing the problem? What does the dealership tell you when they
drop in the new engine.......nothing?

RevUp engines seem to have the highest likelyhood of high oil consumption. We recently had one, that consumed 3 quarts of oil in just 800 miles!!

Haven't personally had mine replaced, but have heard the Version2Rev-ups (hand built ones from Japan)
from a member who has that replacement said (his Dealer said) the piston and rings are different/revised ones from normal factory rev-ups.
