Maintenence question

Hey...so i just scheduled my 3k oil and filter change at the dealership where i bought my G. It's $48.99, probably not the best price, but im slightly over 3k already and i dont have the time to go and look for a better deal with my schedule as of lately. i was wondering if anyone knows if the oil they use is good, thanks guys.

They will use oil that meet the requirements. I take my own oil(Royal Purple) and filter(K&N) and dealer changes it for me and charges $8, ask UR dealer to do the same...

why not changing yourself you oil ....

one reason I don't change my own is b/c disposal of used oil is a PITA if u do it properly.

$49 sounds rediculous tho, it's just a basic oil and filter change right, nothing else? My dealer charges $21.

I usually pay 30-50 depending on what dealership I go to. Nissan dealerships are usually the cheapest.

Why is disposing oil a PITA? I have yet to encounter a chain auto parts supply store that did not take used oil. I used to live in CA (the most "eco-conscious" state) and it was still just walk in and dump it into the drum.

I changed my oil at STRUSS AUTO. costs $65

Mobil 1 Syn
K&N oil filter

I changed every 4-5k miles.

i payed $2,600 for mine 35K miantance so point and laugh.... at me not a 48 dollars.

Seriously $48.99 is on the high side for an oil & filter change. Granted you feel good inside about having Infiniti servicing your vehicle, I rather go to Nissan for $20 and I'm sure there's a dealer near you.

I just dump the oil down the sewer... Just kidding

But seriously.... I just put the oil in the 5 quart oil jugs by the curb, and the recycling folks take it.

I won't point and laugh, but I feel sorry for someone that would put out that
kinda money for things you probably didn't need or get. Did you even look at
the work order? The two biggest things at 35K would be tranny/diff drain and
fill but that shouldn't exceed $300. Did they charge you for tire rotation or
antenna maintenance, both of those are on the Infiniti work orders? Sorry,
but for what they charged you they should have throw in a new car!

They won't do that where I live. They have to pay some disposal fee to the state. There are places you can go to dispose of it, but it's no where near where I live. So, I can pay $5 for oil, $5 for a filter, and $5 for disposal + my time and energy, or $20 to let someone else do it while I take care of more important things....I choose the latter.

Our city specifically has signs on the designated trash cans and recycle bins they make u buy that say they will not take oil, chemicals, paint, etc. You have to take it to one of their disposal places for them to do it 'properly'.

I guess it just depends on where u live.

My dealer uses Quaker State (I change my own oil, but my parents go to the dealer for their FX).

I just bought a g35 and gettign ready to change my oil. In the manual it states to use 5w30 mineral based. But I've searched a lot of people do syn. I'm confused as what oil I should get?
