so yah i put on the Greddy SP2 axle back exhausts on my coupe today... um... good enough for the price but not loud enough..... it is only a little tiny bit louder than stock so i went to the muffler shop and did my own custom catback piping. now it sounds MUCH louder.. BUT over 3000RPM it has this HIGH PITCH sound which is annoying... DOES any of u guys have this HIGH PITCH SOUND TOO?
anywayz i am going to get the Helix delete pipes and hopefully it would get rid of that annoying sound...

 

What diameter tubing did you get the shop to install? ANd what is the stock piping's diameter? The reason its all raspy is probably because you may have removed the resonator. If i were you i would just have left the stock piping and maybe added a aftermarket resonator such as the magnaflow or something along those grounds.

I've had the SP2 for about a month ow. I went with the race pipes and kept the stock tubing. It sounds awsome. You really need to keep the stock piping. and go with race pipes or something else.Get back with me Later................

 

how much did you guys got your greddy for and where did ya got it from? I'm very interested in getting the muffler, seems like a good deal, cuz the stock pipe is pretty good free flow and a good diameter already. I don't believe spending over $800 for a duel exhaust while you can get almost the same power gain from a $400 axle back exhuast, and you can use the other $400 for a set of cats too.

 

Any sound clips? it would be great to hear the greddy with the test pipes!

the problem is not only in the resonators, but also in the material the piping is made of. i'm assuming you just went to a regular muffler shop and they just crush bent some aluminum pipes, right? well, the raspy sound/high pitch sound is probably the thin aluminum piping. also, they could have used a larger pipe diameter than stock, but crush bending is VERY restrictive and it's most likely worse than the stock exhaust. hope that helps!
