Question Performance MOD Questions....

I have been browsing around now for a month or so on this forum and generally have come to the same conclusion....I have gotten know where on exactly what DIY MODs I should perform to add a little punch to my '04 G35 6MT.

I am looking for proven suggestions....no hype....real results. I am not looking for just drop in a turbo or supercharger....I am looking for simple bolt on MODs 1st. I have thought about installing a 350Z intake tube and an intake spacer. They seems simple enough and I figure the stop ECU will adjust for those minor upgrades. If I am wrong please let me know.

Are there any other MODs that you all have performed that you would suggest I perform?

Thanks, Chris

^ I've never seen an 10-15hp gain on the HKS even with a dyna pack.. I've dynoed the HKS exhaust on a coupe before using a dynapack (before and after install) the gains were minimal around mid range RPM but we saw the highest was 4hp gain at the peak.. both test included 1 burn and 4 pulls as well as a ecu reset (using a scanner) before test

Chris we really do not have any mods that'll increase noticeable HP.. They will make the car sound very nice tho.. The most noticeable MOD you'll see for your car is the 1/2" motordyne spacer or the Crawford upper plenum.. you can compliment those mods with the correct headers and exhaust for the max efficiency... but simple mods like air intake, z-tube are pretty much done for the sound..

Totally agree. I'm sure I've had gains on my car, but I really could not tell you where the gains are or how much. It's a lot of money to drop on bolt-ons for minimal gains.

Based on my current setup, I'm really thinking of getting headers and then getting it re-flashed (or getting a UTEC) to maximize my current setup.

the problem (with words is blue above) is that not many of us do what a manufacturer of a performance part does it terms of testing... So when someone gives their impression of something it often results in a debate. So you really need to find someone that you know has a car that performs well and brainstorm with them... It's unfortunate but that’s what it boils down to.

There are people out here that you would swear spend their life debating what works for others... then they insist on proof... it's a futile topic really. I have boatloads of mods, some trifling some very prominent - but I don’t do 1/4 mile runs and dyno pulls after each and every mod... and not many people believe vehicle owners know their car well enough to report "felt" gains… Additionally, some mods (for me) don’t result in much improvement without another – breather mods specifically… so if someone says intake xxx works well, they probably have it with plenum mod xxx and exhaust xxx – the variable of configurations sometimes result in different results.

I'm sorry to sound negative, but that's what happens out here. Good luck in getting an answer that is viable though.

Performance Mods.........

OCG35 is correct, most of the gains that you'll notice with be from the
intake thru the exhaust. One doesn't show a lot of gains without the other,
cold air intake.......spacer.......catback exhaust. The combination of these
three mods will give you all the HP gains you'll get with a NA G35 and still be
legal......at least in Ca!

If you got all the basic bolt ons, you would shave a small fraction of a second off your 1/4 mile time. Don't expect any noticable gains. However, they do help a tiny bit. Get the mods for the looks/sound.

I originally went with CAI, headers, high-flow cats and Stillen dual. I didn't dyno it, but wow. There was no debate from any of my friends that it was a major improvement. Headers are not a "simple" bolt on.

Put in a 100 shot of nos and then get uprev to tune it for you.
It will cost about the same as an exhaust, plenum spacer, CAI system.
