wrong motor oil in engine

Hi Everyone,

I'm a new owner of an 03 G35c 6MT, I have a question regarding the motor oil. It seems like the previous owner put the wrong thickness 10w-30 synthetic oil in. The next oil change I will use the correct oil weight. Just wondering, was there any long term damage to the car with the wrong weight of oil? I have driven it for about 1000 miles, as I needed to take it back home.

Also, what brand do you guys recommend for oil?

as well as transmission oil?

Thank You

according to the manual, 5w or 10w will both work assuming you are not anywhere w/ extreme temperatures. most people here seem to use 5w though. but i wouldn't worry about any damages.

You are fine. The "w" is for cold weather use anyway.

Motor Oil.....?

I started like everyone else with the OEM brake in oil, but at 1K miles I
switched to Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic. Now I'm using Red Line 10w30 Synthetic due to the heat in beautiful S. Calif.....my G35's lovin it!
