I really don't want to install a fumoto drain plug (Not sure I trust it enough) so a spacer is the only option. Sometimes it's hard to beat the quality of OEM parts. I beleive the stock pan is steel. Steel FTW!
steel for the win? are you kidding me? Would you like everything made out of steel? (engine, body panels, etc.)? And the G is already heavy as it is--Do you want a tank? Aluminum plays a huge part in modern automotives. Steel has its place in some parts, but aluminum also has its place as well. As already stated, if you are NA, best to get a full upgraded oil pan (APS/ARC) instead of a oil spacer (AAM)--which is good for F/I. But do what you wants.

"Sometimes it's hard to beat the quality of OEM parts"--Are you kidding me? Just because its not made out of steel, does not make it inferior to the OEM piece.

Almost every modifiable part will have an aftermarket replacement that is of the same or higher quality as OEM; it just may cost you $$$.

Oh, and stripping the drain bolts is user era (carelessness, not b/c of the material used--as others have said, stupid techs have stripped the stock pan's drain bolts.

^ What's wrong with a steel hood? Yeah, I was also thinking of replacing my front fenders with steel ones. You know they have a widebody steel APR kit, it's new. Not too many people know about it. How about when I go FI I could throw in some aluminum pistons and rods?

Ok......I'm just kidding. I was also kinda joking around about steel FTW earlier if you didn't catch that. Sorry, my sense of humor can be off sometimes. Obviously there are parts you would want made from lighter metals and parts you would want stronger. I just think that certain parts such as a small drain plug should be made of something stronger. In this situation, the positives are greater than the negatives.

For the amount of money the manufactuers would need to sell the part for with the added strength of the drain plug bung, it will probably exceed the selling point of the current pricing...

$100 for a spacer is too much for most people. Let alone the price of a full pan...

Remember, there are some people who think $120 is too much for a pop charger, and expect only to pay $20 like the other intakes on ebay!

Does anyone know if the ARC oil pan is deeper than stock? Would it come with a fitting to lower the oil pickup?

Just looking... it has to be deeper than stock. It should come with an spacer for the pick-up, but I don't know for sure.

BTW, I received my oil pan spacer from AAM on Wednesday. Fast shipping guys and it looks to be real good quality. Now I've got to find time to install it.

Just using my necronomicon over here to resurrect this bad boy. But has anyone run the AAM spacer with an APS pan ? are there any issues with clearance?
