Here's a question. When you're stationary. Have you tried to bring the revs up to about 1500-2000 rpm while in neutral? I'm not sure if the water pump on our VQ is electrical or mechanical. That should help by eliminating variables.

I had my car up on the lift at work and i'm having the same problem at idle. I've been revving up the engine up to 1500 to 2000 rpm's when at light's. This tell's me that the water pump is mechanical, not electrical. I'm gonna do my thermostat this week some time cause i'm thinkin the nissan t-stat's have a hard to opening up when they get badd. So in return it doesn't open up for the coolant flow to move around the engine.

+1000 HomieG35 is 100% correct. It is air in the coolant system. If you have full coolant and rev the engine, it should spew out that rear most air relief valve. If it does NOT, then you have A LOT of air in your coolant system, which is BAD. Keep revving and adding coolant as specified in the step by step above.

Having air pockets potentially reach cylinder walls is very, very, very bad.

Well i checked the breather valve on the hose that goes into the heater core and found that it was dry. So i started up the car and put it up in the front with the lift. Still didn't have coolant going into the heater core. Topped off radiator and 1/2 of the expansion tank and anitfreeze started coming out of the breather hole.

Checked heat at idle from cold start up to normal temp. Heat started to work after normally again now.
