Every time I start the car after it has been off for more than 5 hours the idle jumps down to almost where its going to stall but jumps back up to 1100 rpm and stays steady. Do u guys know what the problem might be? Also the idle is at about 1100-1200 rpm when the car is cold in 35 degree weather, 2 years ago when i went to big bear and in similar weather conditions the car was idling over 1500rpm when cold. Isn't 1100 rpm too low for a cold idle?

if you have warrenty still...just take it to the dealer and tell them it's not running right. The ECU controls the idle RPM speed. They can adjust that, but something is causing it not to be normal. Hopefully, there are some codes stored in the computer that they can work from.
Well this happens from the initial start up of the car then after the start up it stays steady to an appropriate RPM. I have kintix plenum on and they might blame it on the plenum. Thats why i want to avoid the dealer for now.

hmm...maybe try cleaning your MAF sensor
intake filter was cleaned about 4k miles ago and so was the maf sensor. I guess i will just clean them again with this upcoming oil change.
I wouldn't re-clean the filter just yet. Try cleaning the MAF. The oil from the filter might have gunked it up after you cleaned them.

Before you clean anything, try reseting the ECU. Unplug the negative battery terminal, and depress the brake pedal a few times. This will drain the ECU's internal batteries. Reconnect the negative connector and start the car. Take it for a quick, 5-min drive and turn off. If this doesn't fix the problem, then I'd troubleshoot other possible causes (such as the MAF).

I don't think ECU reset is the cause because it does that in all 3 maps that i have when the tune was done to the car. But i will give that a shot also.Originally Posted by joe603
