Unhappy SES light - P0171 & P0174

Hi folks,

New here and new owner of a 2004 G35 Sedan.

I'm hoping you can help me with my problem. I've had the car a week, it's running fine, idle is smooth etc.. But the SES light came on last night, so I went to Autozone and had them pull the codes (P0171 & P0174) - both of which are indicating that the engine is running lean.

Other than taking the car to the dealership, any ideas? Dirty MAF? The car is bone stock. I've replaced the air filter and cleaned the airbox (after the SES light came on).

Thanks,
Ed

those are lean codes of bank 1 and bank 2. per Alldata, could be the following:

mass air flow sensor
intake air leak
air fuel ratio sensor 1
fuel injector
exhaust gas leak
incorrect fuel pressure
lack of fuel
incorrect pcv hose conneciton

hope that helps.

Depending on how many miles you have and assuming you're still under the 4 yr/50K mile basic warranty, your local Infiniti dealer may be able to diagnose and fix the problem free of charge. Call up your dealer and arrange an appointment with them. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the responses!

On a hunch, I bought some CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner at a local Advanced Auto. Removed the MAF sensor from the car and sprayed it down. Re-installed in the car - and now no SES light !!!!

Hopefully it'll stay gone!
