Oil Consumption in a 2003 5AT???

I know I have read an awful lot on the oil consumption issues with the 05-07 Rev up 6MT engines, BUT is there any known problems with oil consumption in the 03-04 5AT's?

I am asking this cause I am having some issues. I got my car with 40k on it. I now have 70,100 on it. I change the oil every 5k with Mobil 1. I drive 100 miles a day on the interstate. I usually use 1/2 qt oil every 5k miles. In the last 4k miles I have used 2.5qts of oil....

It not dripping and leaving any puddles anywhere. It does not appear to be smoking. There is NO oily residue on the back bumper to trunk lid area. I am stumped. The car is at my local Nissan dealer right now (the closest Infiniti dealer is 2 hrs away).

ANY ideas? Any thoughts as to how it just happened all of a sudden?? The only mod I have done mechanically is the Z-tube, and I don't see how that could cause any issues at all.

This is true but, however we do come up on couple of 03/04 with this problem...best bet would be to see about the oil consumption results, GL

Looks like your car knew when your warranty period was up. Sorry to hear, keep us posted.

Anyone have any idea what a dealers average charge is to rebuild an engine like this? Wouldn't it just be new rings and bearing????
