Yeah man i have the same problem. I just checked out my car at work and its looking like the T-stat is stuck closed so when your at idle its not opening to its full open. But when your driving or revvingup its pushing the coolant though and opening it. I'm going to replace mine this week. I'll post back up with the outcome.

Common problem by design no/low heat at idle warns owner to replace worn out thermostat.....................and 80k is sure worn out.

You might have air pockets in your radiator tubing.....take the radiator cap off when cold, and slowly squeez the tube leading out of the radiator, if you see bubbling and the level goes down slowly, that means you had some pockets in there. It wont circulate correctly with air pockets in there. Anyway, then refill it and ur done. I wound up putting a quarter bottle in.

this fixed my low heat problem, hope it helps.

I've got the same problem actually no heat at all on idle at operating temp but once I get going I have a 5at I've got to drive over 4000 rpm to get heat in the car. I only have 38000 miles on an 06 coupe, I plan on calling the dealership Monday cause it's still under warranty. You guys think it could be the t-stat?
