Dirty Engine Oil

I have a '04 g35x with 61,xxx miles. I change the oil regularly every 3,xxx miles. However, my motor oil at every oil change is partically black. I brought the car to the dealer and they checked it out and said that the engine is not consuming any oil. I even did an engine flush at the dealership and the problem still exists. is there something that i'm missing? why is my oil so dirty?

your oil is dirty because the inside of your engine is dirty, not in a bad way tho. honestly no oil when drained out after 3k should be clean at all. i've never seen it close to being golden brown. sometimes its less darker then other times but its still a shade of black.

i understand that but i just thought that it is kinda weird for an engine with so little miles to be so dirty

Very Dirty Engine Oil....Why?

The very first question that popped in my head was....what kind of oil are
you using? If you're using cheap filters along with poor quality oil I can
understand the filty oil situation. Try using Mobil 1 synthetic oil 10W/30
and either Mobil 1 or K&N filters, then change it every 2K miles to begin
and see what kind of results you get. My oil isn't black after 3K miles!

Additional filtration can be obtained by using the Nissan Titan filter. It has the same base and sealing area and a greater capicity. Plenty of room. I am currently using, and have used since new the Titan filter on my '07 as I used the same swap on my previous '04 G.

A color change doesn't indicate the oil is dirty. It would be dirty if the engine wasn't equipped with an oil filter. When you cook a steak, it gets darker, but you don't refuse to eat it saying, "it's dirty", do you?

Diesel oils get dark in one day but that doesn't mean the oil isn't suitable for continued use. Don't let the color scare you.

It's normal for the oil to change color. I've ran Castrol 0W-30, Pennzoil Platinum 5-30, 10-30 and Regular Pennzoil 5W-30, 10W-30....they all turned black within the first 1000 miles. after about 5-8K, the engine oil is black. The color really isn't a good indicator of anything. If your really worried get a Blackstone report OR buy a bottle of Auto-Rx. I use every 60K in my cars...I have no pictures or compression readings on my car personally but plenty of other people do. Good Luck

all oils turn black very quickly in the vq motors, since there are so many oil passages and galleys in that motor, not all the oil is changed out during an oil change its not possible i'll give you numbers now straight from asist for oil capacity on a dry engine and just an oil and filter change.

Dry Engine Overhaul/New Engine: 5 3/4 q
Oil change only: 4 5/8th quarts
Oil and Filter Change: 5 quarts

theres nothing wrong with your car, just becuase the oil changes color dosn't mean anythings wrong with it, it just means your cars normal :P

Always remember the only way dirt can get into oil is thru the air filter [besides carbon from combustion].............using non oem filter which promise an extra HP do so at the expense of filtration.
Even oem filters have limitations if you want cleaner oil add ANOTHER FILTER infront or behind oem............the couple of HP you lose will pay off in above 200,000 mile life and wear.

THE only way to know how your oil is doing. You don't even have to read any other post in this thread.
