Exclamation Dont Buy This!

BELT DRESSING!

Last week it rained for 4 days straight. The extra moister and cooling weather made my belts squele. I thought maybe it was just gonna be a simple fix so I decided to get WD40 and spay it on my pulleys. I went to Autozone and the guy sold me on getting Belt Dressing spray. He explained it to me that the belts are slipping and just needed a little Dressing to make it stop. I puchased it along with the WD40 then went outside opened my hood and sprayed the Belt Dressing. To my dismay my car started squeling even louder when I started the car! What the hell?! So I went back inside and told the guy what happened and he told me he couldn't do anything for me! F**K!

I know the WD40 will remove the belt adhesive but then I would have to wash the belts afterwards to get that off too. What do you guys think? Should I give it a shot because the belts are still in good condition. Or should I just suck it up and get new belts.

Well I just thought I would share this with you all. SO DON'T BUY BELT DRESSING.

yea, I can see how that happend..... the stuff got onto the front of my engine block. I sprayed it with WD40 and it came off like water. I might have to use that to clean up the pulleys then use rubbing alchohol to get the WD40 off then wash that off. GRRRRRRR. LOL Then install the new belts.

Just tighten your belts, it will fix the squeal i would not worry to much about the belt dressing. I used it on my maxima and it worked fine, wd-40 is another option. GL

belt dressing works fine as long as you don't overapply it like it sounds like you did, I've used it for years on other cars to eliminate squeeling. the key is to apply very small amounts and to check it and only apply enough to stop the squeeling.

I've used belt dressing in the past as well. Always use it sparingly, and be careful not to spray it all over the place. It's really just a temporary fix however, so not worht while if you have the time to tighten or replace your belts which you'll have to do anyway.
