Synthetic oil?

So what is the consensus on when to go synthetic? I have heard people do it on the first oil change some people wait as long as 10,000+

Why wait?

I waited 10,000 miles before using Mobil 1 5W30. Last oil change (5200 miles) I had used 1/2 quart. I have 63,000 miles on the car.

what mine has- can it be changed?

as far as mileage it has about 50K and to my knowledge never had synthetic in it- is it to late to change?

No its not too late. Most modern engines today don't even need a break-in period with dino oil. I really like the German Castrol 0W-30. It's not that expensive if you can find it at Autozone.

When: Whenever you want. Day one or Day 700... whatever, it does not matter. The manual says to use anything with SAE 5W-30 on the label.

I changed the oil at 3750 as per the manual and chose a 5W-30 synthetic.
