really stupid question- how do i check my oil?

Ok im not a complete idiot, but i cannot get the dipstick out.... How do i check my engine oil? I just got the car so i want to see if its low/dirty. The stick seems to go down and back and i cant pull it out....

any help here?

I dont have a G but Im assuming you pull harder.....I just had to quote that last part made me lmfao

lmfao.... i felt like an idiot when i couldnt get it out, i even asked my dad and he knows ALOT about cars. He gives it a good tug and was like "what the hell? go post online and see whats up"

so here i am. *shrug*

the dipstick configuration is a pretty stupid design. You need pull it out with sideways force away from the engine towards the drivers side, then pull up. Took me a while to figure this out. You need to do this rather quickly so you can get a good reading. Have fun putting it back in.

If you pull it out at just the right angle, it will bind in there. I think it is easiest to get out if you tip it towards the front of the car as you pull it up.

Yep, read above. Don't just tug upward.

BTW, who needs to check the oil level in a VQ? Anyone could tell you it's empty all the time, lol.

i went to jiffy lube like 1 week ago to get my oil changed and he changed my oil in like 10 mins? is that normal i remember the last time i got my oil changed they took like 30 mins..and i just noticed that the guy didnt put a new sticker on my front windshield on when i should have my oil changed again? they did a rush job! i think they didnt even change my oil lol wtf!? if i take my dipstick out what am i looking for?

oil change does not take long. at all.

And whoever designed the dipstick, should be shot.

dang thats a quick oil change!
check your oil if its clean. did you put fully synthetic oil in there?

OP like the guys said dont pull upwards! jiggle it a bit and pull it to the side a bit
