Yes, one step colder for FI

I read this somewhere:
"Typically, for every 75-100 hp you add, you should go one step colder on the spark plug's heat range. A hotter heat range is not usually recommended except when severe oil or fuel fouling is occurring."

It seems obvious to me that bad spark plugs could be very bad for your engine (I retract my "certainly can't hurt" statement), but I'd like to hear some specifics from someone as knowledgeable as redlude.

Don't be surprised if he doesn't respond because he feels your question is insulting to his level of technical expertise.

How could some spark plugs be bad for a g35? I dont understand, as long as they are gapped to factory spec? Unless i am missing something? Is it that these would make you run lean(detonation), more so than the fac. spec and this is where the power is coming from?? Is this what is trying to be said?

If they don't do jack, then you wasted your money, there was some speculation on my350z that the reason they may make hp is that they are basically one step "hotter" spark plug, which could possibly do damage to the engine. I'm not saying it will, i'm saying its possible, and people shouldn't just go installing random parts that claim to make hp onto their car without at least a few independent tests to back it up.

I find this much gain hard to beleive. Even if you indexed them, the most I ever heard of was maybe 1-3 hp gain with denso.

There was also speculation that because of the capacitor inherent to the plug, there was some slight change of timing. If you are already on the threshold with timing, a 1 degree difference can make some HP, until it goes BOOM!

Wait till 3rd party dynos are done for these plugs before believing what's been stated in a magazine.
