'06 6MT, Burning oil/engine replacement
To all,
I'm new to this forum, but wanted to get everyone's feedback... has anyone heard of the 6MT burning oil, then needing to have the engine replaced? Mine was "consuming" oil almost from day one, and eventually the dealer agreed to have the engine replaced. So now I have an '06 with 31k on the odometer, but only 5k on the engine.
Also, what does this do to resale value? I mean, is it desirable to have a car with a newer engine, or would a potential buyer be wary of having a car that has already had a heart transplant?
Any thoughts are apreciated.
Michael

There has been a lot of information on this site regarding the oil consumption problems including the sticky above.
I am not an expert, but I don't think a new engine will affect the value of the car either way. No matter how you look at it the rest of the car including the drivetrain has 31K miles on it.
Welcome to the site.

I too had mine replaced. Car runs much better now. I'm sure this will effect resale value. I cannot see how a car is desirable if it has had an engine replaced. But at least anyone in the market for a g35 can rest assured that the engine has been replaced and wont be buying one that is still burning oil.
