Anyone have experience with it? If so, how is it done or should it even be done? I remember a while back a tech at infiniti said it's not recommended on the VQ.

Hmmm... I may have to be the first to try it out.

 

I used it in my old maxima. Gas and oil. Some people carefully injest it into the intake system to break up carbon inside the manifold, valves and combustion chamber. When I too my plenum off last year, it was pretty clean. I'm not sure our Gs need this inside the intake tract yet.

 

when i took my plenum apart recently, i noticed the build up, but i just took it off and cleaned it with engine degreaser. I'm at almost 82k now though.

 

You can put it in your oil maybe 100-200 miles before your next oil change. Not too much though. ie.. 1/3 bottle. And don't beat on it.

You can put it in your gas to help clean the injectors and possible clean the intake valves/combustion chamber. Again not too much.

Adding it though a vaccuum source gets more seafoam into the intake tract. But you had better be careful about how much goes in there. Also expect a white billowly smoke show.

 

i used it on my a4 last week. i got 2 cans, put one in the gas tank and filled it up. put half the other can into the engine oil, ran it for a bit then changed the oil. the other half i sucked it into the intake manifold through a vacuum line. it worked great, runs like new now. you can use it on any car, but be careful if your putting it into the intake manifold that you dont put too much at once.

 

Yea, i've done it on my accord as well.. i find many posts that talk about doing it to their older cars. I'm looking to see if anyone's done it to their G's yet..

 

Be sure to research the seafoam MSDS and see what you are paying for, not much: paleoil, naptha solvent, and IPA.

At least it won't cause much harm if used correctly.

Yea' i know it's not a miracle in a bottle. I'm a DIY guy, If i could find something that helps even in the slightest on maintaining my vehicle. i'm all for it.

 

I've used it a couple of times on different cars. I usually pour 1/2 into the fuel tank, then pour the other half into the valve cover and intake hose. If your engine has oil build up, then be prepared for your car to smoke for a good 20 mins or so. I wouldn't recommend it if your engine has less than 100k miles, however.

 

I like BG 44K. It can be kinda hard to find though.

 

have you used it on the G?

 

BG44k cleans injectors and valves/piston crowns due to extreme concentration of detergents unlike most of the solely solvent/oil based products

 

Q45 is right in the fact that these products do clean rather aggressively if you add them to the oil. Another more gentle approach would be Auto-RX. Very supported by BITOG forums.
