so awesome are the gains that great though? i mean the VQ is already pretty powerfull... just throw on a turbo and you get way more power and way less money

other than having the rarity of it, i dont see an advantage over the VQ. spend the same amount of money you would pay to buy the engine on the VQ and you'd have something more powerful than a stock RB.

Yes it can be done, been done many times, but not without problems to work around and many dollars spent. Also, the engine you have now IS a real skyline engine, just not the inline engine used in the past in Japan. You should research what you want to accomplish with your car, you can probably do that and be happier with FI and some engine mods to what you have now.

You will still save money by just doing a turbo setup on your VQ.

Emissions... LOL, good luck with that.

Also, what skyline motor 25 or 26?

that swap is much less expensive than you think. It costs actually less than a standard tt setup lol. JE in Baltimore did the swap for that car.

OP, your friend has probably an RB25det, which is now a common swap for the 240. I've never seen a RB25 installed in the G35 or Z.

It's not like you will pass emissions with any TT setup lol. Give me one that is carb legal. Only the supercharger systems are legal.

OP search before you post. this has been talked about quite a bit. The biggest problem with this swap is that the RB is significantly heavier than the VQ.

hey, pal... emissions??? come on, that's not gonna happen. it won't even be street legal since you're putting an older engine in a new car. BTW, the late model RB's only came w/280hp(aside from special editions). it does have a lot of potential BUT it's not worth the ca$h at all. plus, ur wieght distribution will be off as well. don't get caught up in all the hype. i lived in Japan for 2yrs and had an R33 Skyline 4-Door, i like my G better in every way.
