What is happening?!?!?

I took off my fujita SRI and put back my stock intake.. Before I put the stock intake back I hosed it down to get all that dirt off... When I put it back together the stock intake was dry but the filter was damp.. I waited about 15 min and started the car up.. Car starts has a weird RPM flucuation for half a second and Idle's perfectly fine.

I start driving around my neighborhood and i'm going pretty slow- car seems fine.. I press down on the gas a bit, go over 2000 RPM and I feel the car jerking back and sort of stalling. I quickly turned around and idled back home.

Did this happen because of the damp air filter?

Well did you take the filter out and run it to find out?

Cel light?

Looks like an maf error code because of the 2k rpm thing

No CEL lights... MAF sensor- could that be a problem because I touched it with greasy hands? I sort of wiped it with an MF towel.

You want me to run my car with no filter?

Isn't that dangerous because something could get inside my motor?

More dangerous than the water being sucked from your wet filter?

For a very short time, it's not a big deal.

Alright, ran the car without the filter and took it for a spin around the block... Car is running solid. I think its the damp filter.

BTW: is the filter supposed to smell burnt? It has some kind of distinct burnt plastic smell.
