Anyone race a similar car with spacer vs no spacer?

I know there were some dynos indicating some gains for the spacer but were there any videos or race stories to prove that plenums spacers make any differance? So far i have only heard stories that say that plenum spacers dont work at all,, Can anyone proof them wrong here?????????

IMO forget the spacer.. I've seen one and felt it in real life.. it was the motordyne 5/16 spacer.. Feels cheap as hell, and looks like a POS. IMO go with a whole new plenum.. I definitely felt some gains, especially around red line.

I put in the Altered Atmosphere angled plenum spacer. It cost a lot less than a full plenum. I noticed more power and a deeper tone to the intake, more like a V8. Later I added a Z-Tube, that made it a lot louder on open throttle. At first I though maybe a bit too loud and I wasn't sure it made more power but it grew on me, I'd never want to take them off now. I got the biggest boost in butt dyno'd power from a lightweight flywheel. Much quicker revving and freed up what feels like a ton of torque! Some days I think I don't even want to go FI, plenty of power as is! (then I come back to my senses)

Yea, I know what your talking about with the V8/ truck sound.. I have that too with my crawford plenum.

This friday at the track I'm going to race a G with a spacer vs. my g with new plenum.. If my other friend shows up then I will have him tape the race for me.

plenum spacer does make a good difference in a race. i got the 5/16 plenum spacer and it made about 2 car length difference in a race "at the track"

well i raced an exact same year and model as mine, I had: 5/8 spacer, fan delete, exhaust, grounding kit, throttle body spacer. Other guys was bone stock and in a race we were almost identical, i was ahead by 3 ft thats it, both automatics.

wow something is wrong then.... mine made a good difference. were you driving it right, because driver can make a difference even in an automatic. did you have the traction controll off?

Spacer definitely helps, but I'd go with a plenum. In a 6mt on a 1/4 track you won't see the true gain until 4th gear if you're competing against another G.

I raced a G in the 1/4 with plenum and exhaust and this was at a track. At the time I had no plenum. I had him beat through 3 gears and into 4th. Both are 6MT. He ended up winning the race easily. So basically from 85 to 100 mph he pulled on me heavily. The rpm range would have been 5500 and up for both of us.
