What kind of engine oil should I use?

No. Oil viscosity should be chosen by ambient temp. Also, mineral based oil or syn blend is best for our cars. Lots of folks use synthetic, but owners manual suggests mineral based (due to valve clearance) for a reason. It's amazing how many people have valve train noise on this forum and never question their oil choice. The Dino oil isn't recommended for no reason, y'all.

Scraggle has a point; mineral (conventional) oil is recommended by Infiniti. I don't see any harm in using a synthetic as long as it meets the same specification as a conventional of equivalent weight, which any API SN oil on the shelf will. Also note that the owners manual does not recommend using oil additives, which I would argue includes high mileage blends. Again just a recommendation.
I would use whatever quality 5W-30 or 10W-30 that you prefer along with a quality oil filter. Just ensure that you change the oil and filter at the recommended drain intervals, and check your oil level regularly. If you use 5W-30 and consume oil, try using 10W-30 (if the ambient temp in your location is above 0) or installing a catch can.
If you want to find some data on oil performance in the VQ35 to help make a decision, you can look on bobistheoilguy or the "VQ Oil Analysis and Info" thread on my350z.

Front and rear cameras, tire pressure for all four tires can display on screen, folding side view mir
I no longer change my own oil and let the dealer do it.
For the $48 I can watch TV, eat their snacks, coffee, bagels, cookies, etc, and they wash and vacuum my car. They also gave me the mm thickness measurements left on my brake pads all while sitting in an air conditioned waiting room.
Read your owners manual recommendations and knock yourself out.

First oil change just use whatever you want, most important is to stick with the proper viscosity, flush interval, and monitor oil levels every week. If you have a consumption problem then switch back to the Nissan conventional oil.
Mine will drink synthetic like it's going out of style but uses barely any conventional across 3k miles.

Honestly, if its THAT hot you should be using 10w40 minimum, but I live in SoCal and I used 20w50 conventional for the first ~3yrs of ownership. When I switched to a syn blend I switched the weight to 10w30 just cuz syn has better cooling properties anyway, so the extra "cushion" of the 20w50 became less relevant. As far as brand, I like castrol magnatec. Its honestly the only oil where I've felt a phsical difference in smoothness.
