Dealership Engine Replacement Question?

Dealership Engine Replacement Question?
When a dealership replaces an engine completely, do they also change the VIN and adjust the odometer?
Also, if the vehicle was bought used, and purchased with an extended warranty from Infiniti, would the used engine most likely have the same mileage as the former one?
Or do they have a standard on the kind of mileage replacement engines have?
Or do they not use used engines at all for replacements?
Just curious.
Thanks

I'm not sure, but I don't think there is a VIN on the actual engine.
No, they do not change the odometer. Your odometer as I'm sure you know isn't just for the engine, its for the whole car. An 06 G coupe with 30,000 miles and 5,000 miles on the new engine will still have 30,000 miles on every other part of the car.
I don't understand your other questions. Why would a dealer replace your motor? Oil consumption? If its getting replaced under warranty, it better be BRAND NEW.

I have had my engine replaced, twice, so I feel I am qualified to answer:
1) engine is brand new, however your intake system, upper plenum, spark plugs, are reused including all of your old belts etc.
2) IT IS ILLEGAL TO ADJUST AN ODOMETER, THE DEALERSHIP CANT EVEN DO THIS NOR CAN THE ODOMETER BE CRACKED AND BE ADJUSTED. The chassis still has been drivin on the original miles so, just because you have a new engine doesnt mean that the odometer should be rolled back, lets say it could be.
3) there are serial numbers, cars have vin numbers. When they say "matching #s" its those numbers no vin numbers.
4) they will honor the extended warranty, but the warranty period does not start over because its a new engine, the remainder is whats left. However, I took it to the BBB and I got 4 extra years of powertrain for free!
