does the Engine Cover trap heat??

thinking of removing my engine cover for summer, since it's like 100 here everyday, wondering if it traps heat or what?

Seems like it would to me.

I've had mine off for several years...

This has been gone over before. Once the motor is heat soaked, it doesn't matter what's bolted to the top of it. When it's above 70, the motor gets heat soaked pretty quickly.

remove cover - unless you like covering all the ugly wires and crap (which is totally understandable)...

Many will dress up the engine bay with polished, powder coated or after market plenum... and other niceties...

The 350Z has a half cover... hmmm... must be to show off that pretty aluminum cast plenum (the same one under our "refined" cover)...

Take it off if you are concerned about performance...

And no Dave, I'm not implying there will be _ ._ _ difference in the 1/4 mile.

The cover is partly a noise reduction measure. I can hear the difference when I take mine off.

In the summer I always pop my hood to let the engine bay cool down after I pull into my garage. This is a big engine in a small space.

I actually agree with him. I took mine off for a day while I was attempting to install my topspeed engine damper, and I noticed more noise, even with all 5 windows closed.

On the flip side to all comments, I don't think plastic retains heat like metals thus it is also disapate heat faster than other materials. I have no proof but I don't think it makes a difference to where it will matter.
