Putting engine cover back on and...

I just installed a Z-Tube and a JWT Pop Charger, and while putting in the last screw on the engine cover (driver's front) I think I may have stripped the threads, not on the nut but the block.

Is there a fix for this?

It's not the block... it's the plenum.

I wouldn't worry about it. You'll run a greater risk of screwing something up if you try to fix the plenum, so your best bet is probably just to remove the whole engine cover so that it doesn't run a risk of rubbing a hole in the heatshield of the hood.

If you really care a lot about it and want to use the cover still, you could go buy a tap set or a thread chaser and try to make some new threads in the plenum and put the next size up of a screw back in as a replacement for the stock one.

kinetix upper plenum FTW if you want to pay over $500 for no gains...

If you really want the engine cover back on just leave the three screws that work, tightened and the stripped one empty.

The key to all those nuts/bolts is not to over tighten them....just snug!
"NEW RECOMDATIONS!" Just run a new bolt down the hole
I'm sure any Nissan dealer will have one.
See Blue I fixed it....LOL

Not certain... they look really good though, that's for sure. Great way to dress up an engine bay.

reinstall the cover without any issues...remember just snug.

If you really care about it that much and want a clean OEM repair, you could also try to buy a used OEM plenum from someone with an '03 or '04 G35 Coupe who has already upgraded to an aftermarket one. I bet you could get it for a not too ridiculous price.... but I still say it's not worth it just for an engine cover that many people remove anyways.

There's a ton of people with aftermarket plenums.. just ask around or make a WTB post in the appropriate section of the forum.
