AC Problems.. Help...2 big a$s pictures

Today I attempted to recharge my AC. during my inspection of the AC routing, I noticed something pretty bad... It looks like a part of my cheapo ebay intake has been knocking or some how melted into the High AC tube. I'm wondering how difficult it is to replace? Or, is there a way that I could mend the wound... BTW.. I will be going back to OEM intake ASAP.

Okay.. i was kidding about the pictures

That's a common problem with aftermarket intakes. You have to be real careful how the flange is positioned. You should be fine as long as it's holding and hasn't rubbed all the way through.

I had to replace mine a few years ago, not cheap at all. That ac line runs all the way across the engine bay along the firewall.

I think it's the green intake tube.

Anyone know a way to patch it up? I was thinking cutting tubing and coupling or welding it in place?

if it rubbed all the way through, I think its fubar'd dude... from the pics its looks like it hasn’t gone through... I'd just replace, or re-position the intake and wrap the line at the previous contact point and keep an eye on it...

Your AC works right? and it held the charge?...

Once you replace it dont try and recharge it cause air and r134 dont play nice together. You will have to have the system put on a vacumn and then recharged.

Thanks for the info. I'm picking up the piping today and I guess I have to take it to a shop for the AC work. BTW, what kind of issues would i be looking at if i do not connect it to a vacumn?

When you open the ac system of course air gets into the system and as freon is a gas like oxygen one gas cannot just replace another gas(no room). You have to put the system under a vacumn to remove any air in the system and then you can recharge the ac system.
Also it is advisable to replace the accumulator as it is a part that absorbs water from the ac system to stop internal corrosion of the ac parts.
