If you have a shop do it, make sure to ask for Napa/Gates belts so they don't just use some cheap POS.

I change mine every year but it's very hot here in Phoenix and my engine bay also has a lot more heat than the normal G's. Plus the way things have been the last few years I seem to have my motor out once a year anyway. LOL

how hard is it to really do this yourself? is it a big head ache to buy the 2 belts yourself and try to do it? Can everything be done from the top. I have no stands to get under the bar from bottom. I dont want to mess anything up then too late because i already took other belts off.

If you have no stands, then i'd recommend not doing it yourself. stands are cheap, go get a pair

My belt broke while driving, I then replaced both serpentine belt & A/C belts, Car started and was able to drive for a bit, but now car won't start? Any idea what it could be.

useful thread. thanks for the info guys my car's @ 69K now and they recommended i change the belts. alternator belt was worse than the ac belt. called the local herb chambers infiniti dealership and its like $230 total. Getting it done @ valvoline this afternoon for about $120 but an extra 15% off since im a teacher, so it'll be about $100 even.

^ In this case it truly depends on what your time is worth. Is 70 dollars worth an 1 hr of your time.....Food for thought for the next person thinking of doing this work.

I keep getting told that there's only one belt for both AC and power steering. Is it because I have a coupe? Firestone told me its two belts while everyone else said its just one.

I need to have mine changed now that I'm at 45k miles. Sears is charging $75, Pep Boys $106, Firestone is $130. They all use Dayco although Firestone might use Gates.

It's really fairly simple. I used an online video in YouTube and one from Infinitihelp. Followed it step by step and wallaaaah, 1 hour later it was done. It took me longer b/c I don't have the strength needed to maneuver as easily as you guys. It saved me $70+; however, I make very, very good money so that's not an issue.

My thinking is that if a completely non-mechanically minded muchacha can do this, most everyone else with:

*** all appendages attached,
*** >2 firing neurons,
*** who's breathing, and
*** has a pulse of 60-80BPM,

can also do it. I'd much rather learn just in case I'm ever stranded somewhere on some lonely rode in backwater Alabama or Nevada.

I bought my G35 used so I'll probably just go ahead and change the belts since I'm driving the G everyday through rush hour traffic...lol

^^^ These used to be my dating criteria (all appendages attached, breathing, a pulse, >2 firing nerve cells.... and able to more than grunt or scratch himself), but had to up the standards a bit since it was attracting the wrong kind of men:

.

Ciao and have a fantastic day,
Isa
