I got these belts from NISSAN for about $40

Belt fan: 11720-4P102
V Belt: 11920-AG900

The tension on these have to be correct, not too loose, not too tight. If it is your first time replacing belts, I recommend you buy a tool to check the tension of the belts! There are ways to do it by eye and feel but of course it will not be accurate, but MAY BE good ENOUGH whether you want to take your chances or not.

Go by visual inspection check to see if you serpentine belts need replacement or not. I would change it periodically because having a broken belt will cause your drive power to be lost. That means the water pump quits circulating coolant through the engine, alternator quits producing amps, the power steering pump cease to assist in steering and your AC will stop working altogether. That's why it's good to replace them periodically to prevent the risk of these breakdowns which will cost you more in the long run.

 

I just purchased belts from my local parts store (the non-cheapo quality), and I plan to tackle this in the next week or two.

My A/C belt (smaller one on the right, when looking down at the engine from the front) has significant cracking, more like small triangular chunks, in all the ribs. There's probably less than an inch between cracks on all the ribs, through the entire belt. The serpentine belt (larger and on the left) doesn't appear to show the same wear yet, but might as well replace both while I'm under the car.

I bought it used with 28,200. Brought it back in for complimentary 1st oil change at just under 32K. At that time, the dealership said the belts needed to be replaced. I was highly suspicious, but did some brief research to find that anecdotal evidence online supported their claim that the belts often wear out around the 30K mile mark. I just hit 69K on my way to lunch, but I noticed the cracking a few thousand miles ago. Figure I've pushed it far enough, and I often let my fiance drive my car (and I take her Pacifica). I miss my G on those days, but it scores me major points because she loves it, possibly more than she loves me!

 

Are Dayco belts okay to use? Pepboys and Autozone only have Dayco and Duralast

 

yes Dayco belts are fine

Gates is usually a little better but Dayco also makes good stuff

The duralast brand may be made by gates

 

Hello, just got my ac and alternator belts changed on my 2003 coupe with 42,000 miles, did it at a garage in my neighbor hood, and the guy charged me $40.00 bucks, I bought the belts from Nissan for $58.00 it only took 30 minutes to replace........sooooo happy, love my G
