Service Prices???
Service Prices???
I was wondering that the sedan doesn't need that much service except for the oil changed at every 3750 miles. So can we just take it in for a oil change at this interval and just then do the 15K, 30K , etc..services done at dealer? I was reading that the 7500 service costs like over $100 and doesn't include much except oil change and filter and the rest is labor charges for inspection. What kind of prices are have you guys paid?
Re: Service Prices???
I was told for us do-it-yourselfers to keep the receipts for the oil and filter as proof that we changed the oil ourselves. Still have not decided if I want to take it to the dealer for anything, since I am so particular about my cars. Maybe only for the "Recalls", we will see........

Re: Service Prices???
I agree with Merlin. I have always tried to avoid dealers for service because I don't think that they are as careful when working on my car as I am. Even if a job takes me 4 hours (because I might be doing it for the first time) that a dealer would do in 30 minutes, I like to know that it was done carefully. On the few occasions where I have taken a car to a dealer (for warranty work), I have often found missing clips, mistorqued bolts and the occasional greasy hand print. I recently took my G35 in for free repair of a ding in the trunk and a musty smell from the a/c, and I must admit that I was treated very well (G35 loaner, etc.,) and the job was done competently.
My dealer charges $120 for the 7500 mile service and (as stated above) all they do is change the oil & filter and rotate the tires. I have no way to know if they inspect all the things mentioned and I can do those inspections in 15 enjoyable minutes without even getting my hands dirty.
Or, maybe I’m just cheap and good at rationalizing ;-)
