im pretty sure it just has to do with the thickness of the oil..
if they have oil consumption ussually switch to thicker oil

Manual recommends 5w-30 I believe.

On a side note, AutoZone is running an oil change special with Mobil 1 this week. Five quarts + filter for $26.99. Great deal.

well im searching around the forum and at 7600 miles right now and about to get my second oil change.. now im wondering if i should change to synthetic now or wait another oil change.. i keep reading that cars should wait 10k+ miles before switching to synthetic in order to allow the engine to break in. is this really necessary?

Oil change....?

If you've ever looked at an oil chart that shows what viscosity works best
at what temp, since WE live in a warm/hot environment 10W/40 would give us
the best protection year round. Even the oil I use, Red Line says not to
switch to synthetic until 6K miles....so your good....
