Question for those of you who have recieved a warranty replacement longblock
I've been dealing with the typical oil consumption issue for some time now, finally got around to starting a consumption test. last change i added 3 quarts at 2k miles and by 3200 the dipstick was coming up empty again. Just check after the latest change, where consumption test was started, and at 600 miles is like 15mm low on the dipstick. I am assuming this will make me a candidate for replacement. My question is, for those of you who had their engines replaced, did the dealer end up selling you a new clutch/flywheel and how much did it end up costing when all was said and done? i am asking because someone i know had his engine replaced, they replaced the clutch which makes sense, and also replaced the flywheel which seems a little iffy. After doing a little research it seems like alot of times people go to get the clutch changed the dealer throws a flywheel in there too. I know the proper way to do things is to resurface the flywheel when you install a clutch, and i know that according to infiniti you can't resurface theirs, so is that why they are replacing them along with clutch? If this is the case i would rather go with an aftermarket setup since i planned on doing that anyway. Would it be jumping the gun to go ahead and order an aftermarket clutch/flywheel set if i get approved for replacement and just assume that if i didn't they would be selling me a clutch and flywheel anyway? if it comes down to like 300 bucks for a factory clutch or getting an aftermarket setup then w/e, but if i'm gonna get stuck with a flywheel for 1500 bucks or whatever they cost no way am i buying OE. thanks
