Exclamation Help! 15 Mpg!! Whats Wrong!!???

Hey. well i was checking my mpg on my fuel econ on my nav screen, and it says i'm avg 15.4 mpg. I wasn't even driving hard. I am talking granny shifts 2,600 everytime. As soon as i touch the gas my little leaf thing drops down to like ten. What's wrong?? Is if my intake being dirty? i cleaned it today but haven't got a chance to drive it since i cleaned it. Any Ideas. Please Help!!

You can shift earlier than that if you granny shift.

Check your manual for shift points.

i mean still 2,600 isn't getting on it by anymeans. shouldn't result in 15 mpg.

I shift at 3000 and still get 16~17. It all depends on how you drive... and if your driving in the stop and go traffic alot or not.

lol

yeah 15mpg in town isn't fantastic, but it's not out of the question for a G.

I got 22mpg on the highway driving through Colorado... so...

Your car also has more power than some V8 trucks out there... just saying.

15 sounds about right if you're spending lots of time in the stop and go traffic a lot. I've gone as low as 10.2MPG... for like 3 full tanks of gas. hahaha

i got 9mpg the last 2 months but i enjoy spending all my money on gas. If your soo worried about gas, a smart car sounds necessary in your near future.

Shift at 2000 or even lower.

Again, check your manual for 'granny shifting' shift points.

Keep in mind, MPG is more throttle related than RPM related.

If you shift at 2000, but you're WOT on the gas pedal anytime youre accelerating, your MPG will suck.

Alternatively, if you accel really slow, but you shift high, your MPG will suck (but not as much as the previous scenerio).

Find a good balance. Show up at the dealership if you want me to show you how to drive the car.

Like stated from others, it's all about what kind of miles you're putting on your G. For me, there's not sense in punishing myself shifting at 2k to save a couple of dollars. Enjoy your car.

I get 17-18mpg and that's with bigger injectors and boosting a lot. I also get a lot of "cruising" mileage so it balances out my WOT runs.
