Ground Wire Help

hey guys, ive been reading alot lately about ground wire kits for my 5at. and the more i read, the more i want to get some ground wires, but also the more i read, the less i feel the importance of getting the expensive, (best) quality wires. after all, several people on here make the wires themselves.

so i was wondering if someone could help me with my final decision on which kit to get. is the 160$ gordgee kit much better than the ten dollar wires from ebay. or is there not going to be a noticable difference?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GROUN...mZ220288433696 (ebay's kit, is it even the same???)

i kind of want to stay away from ebay's ten dollars wires just because im assuming it might be poor quality. but then it is only ten dollars, so it might be worth a shot.

http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=345479 here is another off brand kit that i found that isnt cheap for a kit, but it is cheaper than gordgee's. again, is this going to be the same quality as gordgee's?

any suggestions? thanks

I've read a lot about Gordgee's kit and although I haven't invested in them yet, I believe you get what you pay for. If you wanted to spend $10 on wires you should have bought a $10-15k car. You instead bought a $20-30k car and for that reason I wouldn't skimp on it.

do it right the first time. There's a reason the eBay wires are $10, bad quality. I don't have the grounding kit nor am I an electrical engineer but I did stay at a Holid.......nevermind.

Internal resistance in the wires is going to be important, this is where the quality and wire gauge come into play. Also, look at the terminals on the ends. What material are they made from?

If I were looking for a set I would PM SxCxEx (I think that's his SN).

Unfortunately, no one has proven that additional ground wires do anything useful other than transfer wealth to the seller.

After you complete a 4 year BSEE degree you will understand.

I hated circuits...that's why I went BSME!

With respect to what Q45tech said, yes, the grounding wire gains have been argued and are questionable.

ha yea thanks guys.. one other thing. im about to buy 7 wires used (gordgee's).. its not the whole kit as it doesnt contain wires to the ac,ecu, or tranny... will not having those three wires dramatically affect the performance of the overall ground kit?

or if im going to do anything should i forsure get all ten?

I've wired my last 3 racecars and several other friends racecars and I was thinking the same thing!!! I dont have a BSEE degree, but I do have lost of experience wiring cars and I just couldnt see where this made any difference in performance.... now I could be wrong on these cars, but I do agree with Q45tech.

well i dont really know much electrical stuff, which is why i asked this question. but i got the gordgee 7 wire kit for 40 bucks.... and considering i have read alot of positive things about it, i thought it would be worth 40 bucks.

just because it doesnt make power, doesnt mean its not a good mod. i have a 5at btw..

Bradley, get the 10 wire kit, not the 7. Give me a call and we'll talk about these. I did an article for Nissan Sport in 2006 on Gord's wires. Lots of info I can pass along and I have the article and the dynos as well.

Oh and a little off topic but can you watch Lee on Nov 1st in the evening?

Just give me a call and we'll talk on all this. Let me specify - give me a call tomorrow afternoon/evening or over the weekend.
