Y pipe questions

1) does any company make a y pipe with out the 2 flex pipe pieces on it? i hit the braided pipe so much being so low and am tired of replacing the fcking thing..i looked under it today and its all worn down again, i hear it making noises too when i take my car up to high rpms.

2) is there any reason why the flex pipe is there other than a bit of movement in the exhaust?

Please help a g owner out.

Thanks.
