ok so the left fan is for the ac (if you're standing directly in front of your car), and the right fan is for the radiator?

Just because your coolant is at max doesn't mean you don't have air in the system.

do you suggest "bleeding the air out" by starting the engine wit the radiator cap off? Is that how you do it?

Open the bleeder port on the rear of the engine on the passenger side and open the radiator cap. Turn the car on. Fill coolant until it is full, but let it run for a while. This is how I believe you do it.

I've heard a mechanic tell me that you should jack the front end up (or park on a steep driveway) so that the radiator is at the highest point. Take the cap off and *burp* the system until it stops spitting bubbles. Once the engine is warm you need to shut it off and let cool down before you do it again.

You don't need to do that since we have the port at the back of the engine bay.

Sometimes when I shut the car off I hear a bubbling sound from inside the dash. Like the sound it makes if you're holding a full 2 liter bottle upside down for 5 seconds or so.

So does this mean I have air that needs to be bleeded out? I've never overheated and the gauge needle stays solidly in the middle.

i'm not sure if this is normal behavior. but when my car is off for an entire day, the coolant level is between max and min, but when i start the car and let it idle, the coolant level rises to max? is this normal?

Also i notice only the left fan spins at time to time, im guessing to cool the engine/radiator, but the other fan stays off. are both suppose to go on?

So I was leaving a friend's house about about an hour ago (2am) & it was about 47 degrees according to the dash. I sat idling for about 2 minutes until the temperature gauge moved and started driving. I turned the heater on and noticed about 5 minutes later that it wasn't getting warm at all and then I noticed the temperature gauge was past halfway and then it went almost all the way up.

I pulled over and shut the car off to see what was wrong. I didn't see any leaks, and the engine didn't seem very hot at all, but then again it was @ss-cold outside. The coolant was pretty low. I waited a couple minutes and started her up again and within seconds the temperature gauge shot up again. I had to get home so I drove slow and watched the gauge and it would go up and down from halfway to almost the top. I finally made it home and checked under the hood again and it still doesn't seem hot at all.

Also, the fan stayed on the whole time even though I wasn't running the fan or AC. This has happened before but when it wasn't hot and the temperature gauge was fine then unlike tonight.

Is the low coolant the problem or maybe a bad thermostat? I have a 05 coupe with 62k miles that I bought in June of 05. Is anything still covered under warranty?
