TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

i have one more mod to do which is the ecu. but i was wondering if it is worth doing the technosquare ecu or wait for any other companies to come out with one? i got a stillen catalog in the mail and it said it is coming out with one for the coupe? currently i have a crawford plenum, carwford cats, borla exhaust, injen intake, and a grounding wire set. would it help a lot?

Re: TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

First of all, Stillen is NOT going to be bringing in an ECU - that's from the horse's mouth. call Adam at Stillen and he will tell you that they just threw the item in the catalog - the catalog people don't know what's really going on.

Here is why: I am convinced that no one at Stillen (or any other large company) can do what TS does. The thing with the ECU is that the only way to upgrade it is to get it flashed... Wait... before you say 'what about piggybacks' . I would definitely NOT do that to the car either - as it is going to end up being a fuel computer only - unless you get the VERY expensive programmable (and yet unavailable for the foreseable future) replacement like HKS F-con and AEM EMS (the best). It took TS 8 months of cracking the code of the ECU and being able to find a way to upgrade it to the native ECU hardware in a way that is NOT detectable by the dealer - trust me - we (a trusted infiniti tech and I) tried - consult II gives genuine Nisasn part and program number readouts; all because the native ECU is upgraded, not a piggyback. The ECU's of this new generation from Nissan (which debuted with the our 03 G35's) are thoroughly different fom others. The fuel tables are not just simple text tables that can be easily upgraded (ala LS1tune programs that the end-user could use to tune their Camaro/Corvette on the fly); they were FAR more difficult to hack, especially the drive-by-wire mechanism... If you ask any company "Does the ECU affect the drive by wire mechanism" they will have no idea what you're talking about.

Also, it is not feasible for any large company to tune your A/F and timing maps your specific mods. There is obviously NO way that they will be selling 20 different versions of ECU's for the Z, G35S, and G35C. If they say 'you can tune it yorself (which they won't), then you have a simple fuel computer that just richens or leans the mixtures - and these have been available for a long time (Greddy E-manage, Apexi SAFC, etc.) - and their reliability leaves a lot to be desired.

The beauty of this update is that it allows you to correct the A/F ratio on modified cars. You can simply call them up and say 'I have got a plenum and high flow cats, send me the program for that' - they will do it.

Re: TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

Gurgen,
The one thing keeping me from doing the TS ECU reflash is the fact that I will be w/o my car for 3 (or more) days. It's my daily driver and w.o it, I'm stuck. If TS would buy just one ECU, and mail it to me with their code, I'd gladly pay their asking price, plus the cost of the ECU (as a deposit) until I sent them my ECU later on.

Living in FL and having to deal w/ shipping to CA is a major drawback to getting this 'mod' (If that's really what it is).

Re: TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

but the problem is i think that the ECU only would work on your car only. It is car specific. So....i doubt they can do that. Someone back me up on this one?

Re: TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

I believe that is correct, your key is linked to the ECU and you would have to the key back to the dealer to get them linked up again.

Re: TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

I hear you on that Neffster, that's why I love living in LA, where I can just drop by TS for tuning.

The ECU has the VIS chip (vehicle immobilizer system). Actually, when ecu was trolling all over japan (haha) I did have a loaner ECU with a trasnsplanted VIS chip. But , this is not an option for you b/c to even copy the chip they have to have the original ECU there. So, there is no way around it.

Re: TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

I did the ECU flash from technosquare . When I dynoed the car it was too rich .12.5 to 1 for N/A is to rich . I have since then added a SC .So I flashed it back to stock except a few thing. I dont know if you can tell them you would like to have it run 12.8 to 13.2 to 1 and Techno be able to keep it there or not. With out being there to do it

Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

Re: TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

ramo,
You have time to decide. Technosquare doesn't have one ready yet for the 2004.5, and I'm assuming they don't have the 2004. Two weeks ago they told me to check back in a month. It's different and it's in Japan being cracked.

Re: TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

Of all my Mods, Technosquare was the most noticable.
With my growing list of bolt-on mods, these are my latest Dyno#'s with the addition of the U.R.Crank Pully and the Technosquare ECU Upgrade!

Re: TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

if you go to technosquare's website and list the nissan/infiniti ecu products. you'll notice that there is no product for the 6mt. then i called them and danny give me the impression that they are sort of "iffy" about the 6mt.

Re: TECHNOSQUARE WORTHWHILE???

The issue is that some of the very new models (the so-called Ultra-Low-Emission-Vehicle models) have a different ECU that has not yet been cracked. You can <a href="http://www.technosquareinc.com/2004.htm">read about it here</a>.
