Questions about first oil change
Hey Guys
I am pretty new on the forum. I recently picked up me G35 2007 coupe 6sd and I am not familiar with the oil procedures. I have read a lot of post regarding the oil types and times to change the oil but I do have a few questions that I hope you guys can help me with.
I picked up the car @ 3900miles my car just hit 7000miles. I was wondering if I can change the oil. Nissan did an oil change right before giving it to me but they used conventional oil. I usually use Mobil 1 on all my cars but because the engine is so new I was wondering if it is needed in our cars with low miles. I was reading the manual and it say 5w30 but not synthetic. Should I go ahead with the oil change and still use Mobile 1 full syn or go with Castrol GTX conven.
Also I can’t seem to read the dip stick very well in my car. I looks like there is no oil on it when I pull it out. There is only oil on the very corner of the stick up to the full mark but the whole dip stick is not covered. Does everyone have this problem? And does anyone ever top up the oil in their cars?
Thanks

I believe I switched to fully synthetic around that point...
If it makes you feel better you can go with the conventional oil one more time and then switch over to synthetic. You shouldn't have any issues! Don't let these little things bother you- enjoy the car!!!

From what I have read, you can go synthetic on your second oil change, just not recommended on your first, so you should be good to go. Reading the dipstick with clean oil can be tricky; unless the car's been sitting a while, you may need to pull it out, wipe it clean, put it back in until fully seated, and pull it out carefully. then get some good light on it and you should be able to tell where it reads.

OK Sounds good. I went to the local Crappy Tire to pick up the Mobil 1 today but they were out. But damn I forgot how expensive it was. I guess I will suck it up and buy it anyways. I want to start of on a good foot.
Thanks
Thanks
