CF Hood Owners - hood pins?
CF Hood Owners - hood pins?
I know most of the carbon fiber manufacturers tend to suggest using hood pins when running a CF hood, but I wanted to get your opinions.
Which CF hood are you using?
Are you using hood pins with it?
If not, do you notice any more hood movement, compared to the stock aluminum hood, when hitting higher speeds?
If yes, at what speed?
And for those of you running the CF hood with a CF trunk, did you get an increase in road noise/vibration from the rear?
I appreciate any feedback.

Re: CF Hood Owners - hood pins?
You save weight for sure. I am getting one for the looks. I know a guy that owns a carbon fiber shop, and they are working currently on carbon parts for the G35. From what I heard the quality is an A+. Post message me for hook ups.

I'd like to know the weight savings as well. I figured 15 lbs
could be saved over the OEM aluminum hood easy, but
then I read someone's post here the other day and he said
5 lbs. I hope it was a typo! lol If not, I'd like to know who
the manufacturer is.

Re: CF Hood Owners - hood pins?
There was a thread here a few months ago that discussed the weight of a CF hood and trunk (I beleive it was Carbon Creations). If I remember correctly it was 34lbs and 22lbs for the OEM hood and trunk. The CF hood and trunk was 23lbs and 13lbs.
My memory may be a bit fogged but it was about a 10lb savings per part.
I really wish someone in the US would make a CF hood similar to Hasemi. The reverse scoops should help expel some heat from the engine compartment.

one thing is for sure the carbon fiber hood does keep your engine alot cooler.. i had a civic.. and it had a carbon fiber hood the needle was always lower after that .. it kept it cooler.!

Thanks for the replies so far. I thought this thread bit the dust long ago. lol
Another way that I've found to justify the CF hood
: I live in West Texas and we get several hail storms a year. I do garage my vehicles, but I don't have that luxury during the day while I'm at work.. I could just see that OEM aluminum hood getting dinged to Hell after just a slight hailstorm. Likewise with the trunk.
