pop charger install instructions!?
pop charger install instructions!?
i saw the picture "instructions" in the DIY. I really understand words better than pictures.... well picture + words best. I feel most comfortable with the ztube instructions that i found and feel good about installing my ztube when it gets here later this week. I have the pop charger on the way too and dont really feel 100% about it yet. I'm sure i can figure it out and im thinking that if i dont feel POSITIVE before i start by looking at it... i'll just take it somewhere (infiniti aftermarket shop down the street). If someone just wrote me some words to that popcharger install ( http://www.performancenissanparts.co...ide/g35pz.html ) found there. How hard is this install u guys think? I just really want some written instruction before i tear apart my beatiful g and screw something up

Re: pop charger install instructions!?
The hardest part of the Pop-Charger install is putting n the rubber flaps on the heatshield. The rest is quite easily done with minimal skills.

Re: pop charger install instructions!?
watch out for the MAF rubbing the A/C line. Protect the A/C line with a piece of rubber hose and a small clamp to keep it in place. There are tons of info about this on this forum.

mamboking,
What size "insulation tubing" did you use and what exactly is that material called? Your a/c line fix looks to be the cleanest of all fixes that I've seen (and dabomb is my buddie and his is not that clean ).

Re: pop charger install instructions!?
Thanks neff, I used what I believe is 1/4 inch fuel line rubber hose. It is very sturdy. There was another type of hose with the same inner space but it was orange (air compressor hose) and I decided to go with the fuel line which is black. I think the foot is like 90 cents at Lowes. Then I went and got the 2 smallest clamps I could find. The funny thing is that I cut a piece of the rubber hose which is about 6 inches in length to cover the A/C line. While installing it, I discover that if put the clamp right where the rubbing takes place, the clamp itself became another barrier between the MAF and the A/C line. You can do my fix even cleaner by just cutting like one inch and using one clamp right where you forsee the contact to take place.

Re: pop charger install instructions!?
Hey man, I did it with my good buddy about 2 weeks ago. My advice is this. Just look at the pictures, make sure you have the right tools, and make sure YOU HAVE ALL THE PARTS before you install. The place i bought from forgot to send me the bracket that held the filter element in place to the chasis...that was great considering i realized it when everything else was done. Have confidence in yourself. This is the EASIEST mod to do...long black pipe connected to a filter...which in turn connects to your car...doesnt get much easier. If you really need help, you can message me and Ill walk you through it some how...
Re: pop charger install instructions!?
After reading the DIYs and looking at the pics, it probably took me a grand total of 15 minutes to install the thing... just do your homework and you'll be fine. Also, have all the tools handy... big plus.
