What's Everyone's Best Track Time?

I only have 124 miles on my G - I got it this morning. I was just curious if anyone stock or modded has gone to the track and run their G.

at 6200 Miles- stock sport sedan- auto-VDC OFF
Ran 14.4 @99.1
14.2@100.4
14.2@100.8

Best Launch-
Hold Brake with left foot- Lay into the Gas at 3500 to 3700RPM, Drop the brake mash the gas when the tree hits green-

Just for fun last run was with VDC on and hitting the gas when the tree hit green
14.9@94.2

I am planning and doing a few laps at Laguna Seca pretty soon when we go out for some tuning of the Cobra R's prior to the California race season heating up. I will post the times when I do.

They say that's what the coupe runs stock. So I wonder if they are under rated for 350 Z purposes. I am going to take mines to the track VERY soon. I'm in orlando Florida. I will have a cold air intake when I run it. I will let you know what I ran.

Re: What's Everyone's Best Track Time?

You have to do a brake stand to get it to move, too much delay on the throttle if you don't. VDC effectively kills all wheel spin causing it to stall out It caught traction best aroung 3500rpm. Anything above 4200 or so VDC killed off the line.
I don't think they are as aggressive as I was when they are doing their testing. Plus- It is broken in.

I guess you're right. My car seems to get a little louder as I get more miles also. Maybe it's in my head. Anyways, I raced a worked WRX who runs a 13.30 and he walked me until 5th then I ran him, down. By the quarter mile he had me by a car and a half.

Re: What's Everyone's Best Track Time?

GBech, which track did you run at? I would like to take mine down and would like to know a good track. The only ones I know in this area (SF bay area) are Infineon (old Sears Point) and Sac. Any recommendations?

Re: What's Everyone's Best Track Time?

I live in the Central Valley so I drag at 1 of 3 places...Sac, Infineon, or Button Willow. I run open lapping days at Thunderhill and Button Willow due to cost, I run the Stang usually about 15-20 days a year. Now that the kid is on the way probably alot less. I like Sac on the weekends better than Sears on the Wed nights. Seems to be less crowded and I can get in more runs. Also seems a little lighter on the ricers. Alot of big block guys kickin' the crap out of my small block. Love to watch them 7 second cars...but if you want to tango gotta turn it too.....give me road course or give me death!!!!

Damn - trapping 100 in a auto sedan is nice. I can't wait to see what my 6MT does. I will let you guys know next weekend because I already have 250 miles on it after two days.

nice......i guess you do have to launch the G- i tried (even though i only have 400KMs on her....i figured i'd just let off before redline...i couldn't resist ) to do a quick run with her. Came to a stop, waited, then mashed the gas....nothing. no power below 3 1/2. It took like forever to get up to 3RPM and i was so shocked i just let off, lol.

Re: What's Everyone's Best Track Time?

when you step on the gas until 3500rpm and have your foot on the break...doesn't it damage the engine?? for AUTO trans....??? and i never tried it so i wouldn't know but wouldn't the car move or does brake hold it even at 3500 rpm

if you do it ever single time you stop you'll be looking a tenegine damage after a while, but you should be fine if you do it once in a while.

Re: What's Everyone's Best Track Time?

The brakes will hold it. The vast majority of the braking is almost always done with the fronts. This is why the diameter of these discs is always larger than the rear. You will get wheel spin around 2500 rpm as the rears start to slip. After that it is a matter of catching traction when the fronts are released. I learned on an old Chevelle- would not recommend doing this in a new G if you haven't done this before...beat up on an old pickup or other rwd car...
