technosquare or SAFC
technosquare or SAFC
HI,
I want to hear other g35drivers opinions....
My car is N/A ( nismo cai, crawford plenum, crawford high cats, injen ses exhaust) and I wanna go for either Apexi safc,
air fuel controller or technosquare ecu flush.
I wish i could purchase both, but i m kinda short on budget..
what do you guys think? which part will be better for my car?

I'm in the same boat as you, buddy - I think you're going to get more out of your money by going with the TS reflash - the raised redline to 7100 rpms alone is worth it for me...
but ideally, I would like to have the reflash done and THEN purchase the SAFC II so I can tweak it alittle here and there (ie lean it out in the lower rpms)... but for now, I'm thinking TS...

Re: technosquare or SAFC
Make sure you get the SAFC-II (not the SAFC), if you choose to go that route.
If you're a compulsive modder, that little unit will give you more flexibility and control than the technosquare reflash, plus you don't have to wait while your ECU is gone.
That said, the SAFC's are basically lying to your ECU about the air intake, etc. -- and the first SAFC model often fooled the ECU into running overly lean -- causing detonation/ knock (...so possible damage to rings etc. as well as decreased performance from the bogged timing...)
The original SAFC doesn't have a knock sensor, whereas the updated SAFC-2 does... although it won't prevent detonation it'll at least warn you if it's happening.
So I'd resist the temptation to pick up a cheap used SAFC somewhere; Get the SAFC-2 -- chances are that's what the guy selling it to you plans to do...
Also, you should factor in the cost of a solid day of dynoing to set it up properly and fine tune it.

Re: technosquare or SAFC
While you'll have better and direct control of AF by going the SAFC route, you will still lack the ignition timing changes made by Technosquare. Your best bet is to do the TS ecu first then maybe add the SAFC down the road for that extra icing on the cake.
