Grinding Noise
Grinding Noise
I bought a used g35 from a used car dealership with 35000 miles on it. I noticed it has a AEM CAI and some kind of exhaust (idk brand).
I noticed a low pitched grinding noise when i accelerate from low RPMs.
It stops when I reach about 2.2 revs.
Ex: In third gear I'll downshift to 2nd and RPMs will drop to like 1.5 and when I accelerate the grinding noise comesa out. Its not a really harsh grind but it feels like the car has no power during the grinding acceleration.

Does it come from the rear?
Mine seems to make a grinding noise when I accelerate hard off the line ( from a stop ) but quickly goes away as the rpms go up. I always though it was my exhaust rubbing but I'm not sure.

Probably just the exhaust. If it's a no-name brand it may just hitting or rubbing. Get up under there and see if you can move it, or see where it's been hitting. That's the first place to look. If it isn't that, then you can go back to square one and it may be the intake rattling on something, etc... More then likely it's nothing harmful.
