Re: ? ABOUT ECU RESET AFTER TS ECU INSTALL

okay after i installed my ts ecu, i touched the + and - cables for 5sec. but i am wondering if i am supposed to notice a big difference in performance after the chip? i have a borla exhaust, crawford plenum, crawford cats, injen intake, grounding wires.

Re: ? ABOUT ECU RESET AFTER TS ECU INSTALL

They are talking about touching the terminals together when the battery is disconnected. Basically, this will drain any compacitive loads in the system by shorting them directly to ground. Something I personally wouldn't want to do to my electronics.....

Re: ? ABOUT ECU RESET AFTER TS ECU INSTALL

ah, i see. hey KPierson, do you mean "capacitive?" that runs the risk of damage some of the components in the circuit though....i guess if the discharge of the capacitors were of small enough current, then it would be okay, but sounds too risky.

n1cK!

ps-KPierson, what's the status of makin' new window roll-up boards?

Re: ? ABOUT ECU RESET AFTER TS ECU INSTALL

Yeah, I meant capacitive, as in the capacitors that would store enough current to keep enough power in the ECU for it to 'keep' its memory. Without knowing exactly how many and what size caps there are in the car it is impossible to determine the risk involved, but I would much rather find another way to reset the ECU. I just hope someone with a 1F cap for thier stereo doesn't try this!!!!!

Re: ? ABOUT ECU RESET AFTER TS ECU INSTALL

N!ck,

I've got one of the new boards in my car right now, and I've sent out about 5-6 of them for a quick 'test.' It will be about another week before we are ready to ship out the next shipment, as I have all the inventory with me in Baltimore, Md, and my brother ships them from Columbus, Ohio.

Re: ? ABOUT ECU RESET AFTER TS ECU INSTALL

I think that the battery technique will reset all of the settings on your stereo too though.
