whats the benifit from porting and polishing the heads?

whats so good about porting and polishing the heads on a g35 coupe rev up motor what kinda hp is gained?

On modern Japanese engines very little is gained compared to the crude rough US engines of yore.
Computer aided machines have almost made factory production as precise as the absolute best experts spending weeks by hand polishing heads. And the factory output is consistent and reliable.
Cosworth Heads are probably better than any US human can produce and they only increase flow by 5%.

The problem is if you enlarge the ports their flow speed declines, thus bigger or smoother may not be any better.

If you super/turbo charge the extra flow may need larger ports to squeeze out all the calculated gain per psi.

Wow, I did not know the costworth only increased the flow by 5%.

yeah this is why spending $4k on heads isnt worth it.. IF u are FI, then get them polished and get cams and springs.. porting isnt NEEDED..

Even of you are FI, polishing is not going to add any measurable power.

no but a polish and angle grind with cams and springs does enough and allows the air to flow a lil bit smoother.. its a little thing that adds to the big picture..
