Injen CAI in the Rain??

Hey Guys,

What happens when you drive your G in the rain if you have a Injen Cold Air Intake installed on your G. Are you supposed to not drive your car in the rain at all? Due to the possibility of water getting into your engine? Or, are there any specific rules or warnings you must consider when driving with a CAI intake system in heavy rain. Thanks.

Rain is fine, avoid large puddles so you dont hydrolock the engine.

I have a the AEM CAI and ive never had a probelm and I live in Florida.

But I have the AEM bypass valve,

That link shows how it works.

But I would not go driving in deep water, just to be safe avoid big puddles.

+1, just don't drive into large puddles. If you're really concerned and have a newer model, you can convert it from a long tube (CAI) intake to a short ram by removing the tube that goes down to the bumper. I'm doing this now, but will convert back to CAI in a month or so.

You will be fine, I used a K&N pre filter to repel the rain , but do not take it swiming.

Or just get the Injen Hydro-shield. They make them to perfectly fit what ever Injen filter you have Every little bit helps. I have an Xterra too so I don't drive the G when I know its gonna rain, but I do get caught by suprise every now and then. Durring monsoon season I'm just gonna switch to the short ram. Hey, if you have the old type of Ingen CAI that dosen't convert to short ram, I do have a modified old type that is cut at the bend to a short ram. you can just switch intake part after the MAF when ever you want.

you'll be fine. I've never had an issue with any CAI I've owned. Do some searching sir.

Just don't accelerate when you question if the puddle too deep and unavoidable. I put my car in nutrel and turn off the engine then start it back once im through the puddle. Works for me.

Unless you actually submerge the intake in water you wont have a problem.

in the case you do hydrolock your motor dont try to start it. push it to the side of the road and call a tow truck. when u have some tools available. take out your spark plugs and crank the motor, it will shoot the water in your cylinders out the spark plug holes. reinstall your sparks plugs. take your plenum apart and get any excess water out. reinstall everything and you should be good to go.
