Are you still planning on this conversion? If so, please post up your opinions when you do it.

Here's a write up regarding the positives and negatives regarding e-fans conversions, how the mechanical fan works, and why the power gains are a myth regarding e-fan conversions.

I'm up in the air about it. If anything, I was going to try just removing the fan just to see what happens. Or removing the entire fan/pulley assembly and adding a spacer for the PS bracket. But got to buy a 1" smaller dia belt though.

I figure during the colder months, it would be okay.

Currently I am driving without a fan, I live in Chicago so it is pretty cold now. I need to say the car seems to be more dynamic and responsive.

I will proceed with the E fan. Just need to spend some more time on the schematics on how to do wiring.

Just FYI I am doing it cheappo style, I will try to stay below the price of 130 ( cost of the replacement blades for the mechanical fan )

Will see.....

I'm trying to find dyno links of gains on other vehicles when doing the mechanical to e-fan swap. It seems like everytime someone mentions the swap, they refer to the Trailblazer SS e-fan swap. The gains from the swap on the TBSS of often noted as 10 to 15whp. I'm researching this gain, but it appears the person that's done the dyno was a shop that sells the conversion kit and even then, I'm not finding the dyno plots or any 3rd party dynos.

Maybe I'll pull off the fan and see how it drives.

I have read all those post bout the swap and the discussions which go back and forth bout the gains etc.

I am not doing it for the gains. Just the car I bought was in accident and the previous owner did a half a@@ job fixing it with a missing condenser fan and a broken mechanical fan it is cheaper for me just to do the E fan confersion rather then searchin for OEM parts.

Just take it off and u will see, just get some thick washers ( i had to put 3 under each bolt ) so you can put them back on the tensioner.

Do a DIY when you get one. Also, you might need a Variable Speed Controller (VSC) unit because I don't see one with that kit.

I did it wit the $70 conversion from ebay. I took some pics so i might do the DIY later on. I did not use the VSC, the thermostat included in the kit works fine, fans go on and of and keep the temperature nice and cool

I did a E-fan conversion with the Flex-a-lite dual electric fans. I used the stock wiring from the AC fan wires. One fan is set for low temp engagement, on is for high temp.

Was pretty straight forward.

You guys should really do a DIY for the site. It's question commonly posted and no one has ever offered up a solid DIY. It's sounds like both you have a decent setup.
